happy new years everyone!
yes it’s a little early, but we are starting a 9 day charter today, and it’s very possible that i won’t have internet, or the time to use the internet, for those nine days. so, i wish you all a very fun and crazy new years eve time. i will be discretely, and illegally, setting off fireworks and sneaking gulps of champagne at every possible moment. discrete and fireworks...

i've never had a bad christmas.
until now. number one, i worked. working on christmas sucks. i don’t recommend it. seriously, don’t try it. number two, working on a boat on christmas is even worse. don’t try that either. third, a storm on the ocean on christmas eve is not ideal. fourth, dragging your anchor and hitting another boat and then getting your anchor chain wrapped around another boat’s...

this was the time that the stew got up yesterday. i wasn’t much far ahead of her at 3pm. i woke up to find the tender had been moved to a different dock, only had 2 lines tying it to the dock instead of 4, a surf board was laying on the floor (we don’t have a surf board), and a bunch of empty beer and water bottles strewn about. must have been a good night. late night island...
a tiny little girl just ran up to me, laughed and ran away. if that doesn’t make you smile, nothing will.

nervous.
yes i am nervous. i am getting far to used to living more like a guest on a yacht than a crew member. i have been on vacation now for 17 days. its safe to say that i am buried deep into lazy vacation mode. its going to be a shock to the system starting work again. i’m nervous.
i’m also content. i finally got to scuba dive. yes i was scared. yes i had a minor freak out moment...

i am missing minnesota and my home and caribou coffee and cold weather and scarves and chai lattes and comfy bed and slippers and christmas lights and snow and jolly people and good friends and family and land.
i was so deep into the christmas spirit by the time i left that i said merry christmas to a stranger at the mall. i was immediately embarrassed because i’m pretty sure they...

i never thought that i would wake up and step off of a yacht in the virgin islands and go for an 85 minute massage, then drive our tender to the nearby island of jost van dyke (with my dad!) to swim, drink and tan all day, only to return to the yacht to get a manicure and pedicure and have chinese take-out waiting for me on the boat. woah. i’m posting up in crazy town, i like it here.
